If you watch these two in the theatre, Violet Crawley, played by Maggie Smith says to her son at a certain moment: ‘Robert, I sometimes wonder if you should go out more.’ What does the Dowager Countess mean? I do so love Maggie Smith. She’s by far and large the most wonderful and greatest British actress, as far as I’m concerned. The best Belgian actress, in my opinion, is Dora Van der Groen, who sadly passed away a few years ago.
@Hakangur. We are both teachers and people usually say: ‘Teachers, they know everything’. It’s not true, but what they actually want to say is: ‘Teachers are supposed to know everything.’ So, now, I want your guidance, young man, that is you Hakangur.
She is saying that he is naive. He is not seeing what should be obvious.
By the way, since I don’t have a TV I had not heard of this show until a couple years ago when someone at this site asked about it. It was that Russian woman that we haven’t seen for a while. I forget her name.
She was having trouble understanding some of the accents. I looked it up on YouTube since I’d never seen the show. YouTube only had one full episode. I watched it and somehow got hooked. Within the next two weeks I did a marathon and watched every episode from every seasons (the library had the DVDs).
It’s a great show. I only saw it last year, but the show dates back to the early or mid 2010’s. However, it is historically well-founded. A friend of mine told me about it and I said: ‘What are you talking about?’ He said well, you are so full of the Brits - so is he - and I started looking for it on youtube. I was hooked too and last year, someone gave me the complete boxed set. What a pitty we live so far away. I would have lent you the box. By the way, is it correct to say, the early or mid 2010’s.
Oh and thank you for being here for me. At least you and Arinker listen to me in your own way.
Please accept this as a little present. It’s La Gaza Ladra, or The Stealing Magpie by Rossini. I don’t know why I like it so much, but I do.
The theme in this piece may sound familiar. It was used in cartoons (Warner Bothers?)
Could be Arinker, but does that matter? It’s beautiful, don’t you think? I love you and NearlyNapping both, do you understand that, my sweet Arinker? Tell him that, would you?
