Why did you start freelancing? (New job)

Hello @tim_m , it’s good to see you here again  Thank you so much for creating ESL, TOEFL and TOEIC tests materials in PDF and MP3 | english.best shop which I have just added to the shop. As soon as we get the first sale you will receive all the money. Now, to increase the chances of generating some sales it would good if you could take a look at the product description and maybe add some information or even create a sales letter? I can make some suggestions too if you like  Please let us know what you think!

Hi, Torsten, thanks for inviting me to join the project. But freelancing is not my topic really because I’ve never done it. But I’m keen on other fields, for example, literature and arts.

Hello everyone, here is another story by Ruth from the Philippines. She too is an introvert who started writing at a very young age and now has been earning her living 100% online which means she has lots of freedom: https://english.best/reading/articles/freelancing-perks-and-other-things-in-between/

Hi @tim_m , I’m glad you like the fact that I have added your product to our shop. Here are some ideas as to what we should do to attract sales: Add a more detailed description of your product addressing the target group. For example something along the lines: 'If you are working as a freelance ESL teacher you always need useful handouts. I know what I’m talking about because I’m currently teaching English in Asia which is why I have created English for You based on my own experiences…" Then we should include your story. People always want to connect with people even when they buy a product and the person behind your product is very important because your clients want to relate to you and emulate you.

Hi @Sean, thank you so much for sharing your story too. I enjoyed reading it very much because it gives me an insight into your background and helps me create a connection with you. @Andrea, did you know that Sean’s frequently spends time in South Africa because that’s where his partner is from? Maybe the two of you can meet up some time in person? Also, @tim_m, I think you can Sean have quite a lot in common because both of you went to Asia to teach English there after graduating from university and both of you have a passion for writing. Sean, what projects are you currently working on? What are you goals for the next couple of weeks?

Thanks @Torsten

@Andrea I’m in Cape Town – you nearby? If so, we should bump elbows when this public shutdown becomes a little less hectic. Tim, I was in Vietnam for 6 years, until Spring 2019.

Torsten, I’m currently writing web copy for a “stretch tents” company of all things! I’m also about to start a LinkedIn piece on the need for more, not less, digital content in the near future. I’m managing & editing some other writers for a client in the travel and hospitality sector back in Vietnam as well. It’s all go at the moment!

Thanks @Torsten. Hi @Sean-C… yes, we are both in the same city! I’m in the Northern suburbs. :+1::blush: Yeah, it would be great to meet up at some point! Wow, sounds like you are super busy! Well, today schools closed as you would have heard. So, now I have my kids at home for a while. When you’re able we could Skype or WhatsApp. Let me know  Thanks, Andrea

Were you based in Ho Chi Minh, @Sean-C? That’s one of my favorite cities. For me, I’ve been here in Thailand since 2016, teaching mostly university students. What brought you to Vietnam?
