Hi berione81,
Both products have slightly different purposes. Cleverlean is offering TOEIC training online, this means, you can answer tests questions that have the same format and structure as the real TOEIC. As far as I know they are currently a special offer that allows you to sign up for their service for free.
TOEIC Secrets as an ebook that contains information on how to prepare for the TOEIC test. You will get ideas on how to develop a success strategy and how to cope with stress during the test.
Regards,
Torsten
PS: Please note that “advice” is uncountalbe so you can give somebody some advice not ‘[color=red]an advice’. Also, it’s probably good if you stick to some basic spelling rules.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi berione81,
First off, could you PLEASE STOP SHOUTING? Your message is much more difficult and unpleasant to read if you write in CAPITALS.
As for your TOEIC preparation, I think you should get a clear idea of the purpose of this test. The TOEIC evaluates how well you can use English in a business context.
This means, in order to get a better TOEIC score, you have to be interested in business issues rather than the TOEIC itself. Many people concentrate on the exam but that’s not the important issue. What really counts is your interest in the world around you.
What do you listen to, what do you read, whom do you communicate with?
As for “TOEIC vocabulary”, strictly speaking there is no such thing. However, if you are interested in this topi just google the term.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten,
sorry for the writting.I want this exam because it will help me to have a better position in the bussiness world and to be able to enter the exams of some instutitions.
Thanks for your help.
So what about your interests? Maybe can find some English language resources covering the areas that appeal to you. This way you can kill two birds with one stone: You will learn useful information while improving your English. And what’s even more, you will also prepare for the TOEIC.
What do you think?[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten,
I searched the book form the net on one hand it seems useful but on the otherhand it seems to me that if ı order the book ,it will be in my hand very soon. But I am thinking to take the exam within 1 month so working from the internet make me to save more time.I see that people satisfied with the cleverlearn so ı have singned it up but still find it easy.
If you want something that’s more challenging you can listen to audio files on the Internet. For example, if you go to zdnet.com you will find a lot of interviews, workshops and reports you can listen to.
What industry are you in?[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten
I am Kansu, it is my first time to join this forum. I have quite a lot inquiries about improving my english skills. Hope, u can help me with this.
First of all, i would like to ask how i can prepare for the TOEIC test. I am not familiar with the test at all. I just need a whole package which will prepare me for the exam, enable me to get a high score. It might be a software or a grammar book etc.
thanks in advance
By the way, as i am not familiar with the forum, i am not sure if this mail will go to Mr Torsten, if not, i apologize from whom receive this mail :))

How much do you spend listening to authentic audio resources such as TV, radio and audio books? How do you read every day and what do you read? What is your professional background? In order to give you advice as to how you can prepare for the TOEIC effectively, I need a little more information about you. Also, how many of these words do you know:

TOEIC short conversations: A business man phones to say he will be late for a presentation.[YSaerTTEW443543]
Hi Torsten
Thanks a lot for your response and apologize for my late reply. The reason why i am preparing for the Toeic is mainly because i am planning to apply for a japanese company in my own field in a year time, so that i want to certify my English. ( I am also preparing for JLPT level 2 test to certify japanese)
Let me tell you some about myself. I am originally from Turkey. After gaining my bachelors degree in business administration in Turkey i went and stayed in London for 3 years and got my master`s degree in International Business (Msc), specialized in Marketing, then decided to go to Japan as i have a special interest in their culture and the working system. It has been a year since i came to Japan and came up to a certain level where i can easily communicate with the japanese nations. However, i am currently teaching english at elemantary and junior high schools until i get familiar with the japanese culture/life and master in Japanese language. My long term plan is to work for a big japanese company and currently working on it.
It is really so interesting that, everytime i try the toeic vocabulary test, i can do 8 questions correctly out of 10 questions, in fact, i definitely want to do more than this.
As for the listening and reading sites, i hardly ever find chance to read books or listen audio resources as i am working and studying japanese at the same time. However, for the reading, as i am all the time on the net, reading articles, and/or news etc, i usually have chance to maintain my reading skills.
My priority is to focus mainly on the Toeic test for the time being. By studying hard on it, i want to get a really high score, then i will ask for some other idea to focus more on speaking, pronunciation (british), and an a to z
grammar book, as i began to forget some easy but important grammar points. I want to maintain improving my english and come up to a native level in all skills.
Hope this information is enough for you to give me advice for the Toeic test. If not, i will be glad to give more information.
Waiting for your response
Thanks
Kansu
Hello,
is possible to buy online the cleverlean book? I can’t find in www.cleverlearn.com. How much is it?
Tanks
Hi Velectro,
The Cleverlearn TOEIC prep course is not a book, it’s an online course. Are you also preparing for the TOEIC?

TOEIC short conversations: Leaving a message on the phone[YSaerTTEW443543]
Hi Kansu,
Thanks a lot for sharing your TOEIC preparation strategies with me. Have you ever tried taking a full length TOEIC test to see how you might score once you take the real exam? Also, what kind of TOEIC prep materials have you used so far if any? As you know, the TOEIC assess only your listening and reading comprehension, you don’t have to speak or write during the test. You also don’t need to explain any grammar structures so it’s best to concentrate your efforts on improving your listening skills. How much time do you spend listening to English every day? It should be at least two to three hours.
Let me know what you think.

Torsten[YSaerTTEW443543]
TOEIC short conversations: A landlord talks about his business[YSaerTTEW443543]
Dear Torsten,
do you think that would be useful, in some way, using skype in the TOEIC preparation?
For example, we could arrange a talk group and listen other people speaking english, improving our listening skills…
Dear Torsten,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
No, i have not tried taking a full TOEIC test and have not used any material for the preparation so far. I am not familiar with the test at all.
Although i don`t spend much time on listening and/or reading, as all my friends around me are native english speakers, i always have chance to practice my listening and speaking skills, however, i believe that, TOEIC listening and reading questions will be assesing different things than what i am speaking with my native speaker friends. So, i will be very happy if you can suggest me a whole package which will enable me to get familiar with the TOEIC test techniques and the listening/reading questions.
By the way, what you are doing is an unvaluable help for everyone. Thank you very very much.
Best Regards
A.Kansu
Good morning, Kansu. For an overview of the TOEIC you might want to read this:
TOEIC Test / TOEIC for Companies
[size=75]http://www.english-test.net/toeic/en/3/[/size]
As far as listening is concerned, do you have any English language TV channels such as CNN or BBC? They often show programs that contain the language which is used on the TOEIC test. Also, do you have Skype? If so, you can join our next English Learning Skypecast where we can talk about TOEIC prep techniques and share learning experiences.
Next time I will also post a link to full length TOEIC tests so you can see where you are at.
By the way, what company do you work for now?
