I love this song!I hope this idea to share our favourite song lyrics here on the forum to like you!Have a fun!And don’t forget to read your text aloud!

The lyrics of the song…

Black and white dancin’ together
Side by side we’ll make things better
You’re never alone
Dancin’ together
Side by side through stormy weather
You’re never alone…

Never alone (x8)

I’m always on course with the force offcourse
Breakin’ down doors, and no I won’t pause.
Here’s an injection to all the people,
don’t you stop movin’ cause we’re all equal.
I’m the 3D2 and I’m here to help.
Stop the violence and help yourself,
to a better place for the human brace
Turn up the bass, time to rave.
It’s universal
Let’s do it now, no time for rehearsal.
Wave your hands for the masterplan
and jam with the man here to slam.
So throw your fist in the air and strive for peace
happiness and unity.
Can’t you see we’ve got to make it better.
Black and white together.

It’s time to wake up it’s time to rise.
Let freedom ring for you and I.
We’ve got to take care of the world today.
Hear what I say, no time to play.
Save the ozone before it’s gone like a storm.
My word is born.
Can’t you see we’ve got to make it better
Black and white together.

MAny regards

Be sure to enunciate distinctly, Candy, particularly the ends of words that end in consonant sounds. Otherwise, you have a very pleasant speaking voice, a natural flow and you are easy to understand.

Time for another sing-song Alan?

Bill.

Here’s one jolly old song. It will make you feel better and recharged with energy. I’ll read it like text without any music.
Candy_floss where are you actually from ? I’m glad to see other bulgarians here

Listen, baby
Ain’t no mountain high
Ain’t no vally low
Ain’t no river wide enough, baby
If you need me, call me
No matter where you are
No matter how far
Just call my name
I’ll be there in a hurry
You don’t have to worry
'Cause baby,
There ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you
Remember the day

I set you free
I told you
You could always count on me
From that day on I made a vow
I’ll be there when you want me
Some way,some how
'Cause baby,
There ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you
No wind, no rain
My love is alive
Way down in my heart
Although we are miles apart
If you ever need a helping hand
I’ll be there on the double
As fast as I can
Don’t you know that
There ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you
Don’t you know that
There ain’t no mountain high enough
Ain’t no valley low enough
Ain’t no river wide enough

Hi Borislav!Glad to see you…I’m from Sofia and you?

Candy floss I’m from Ruse. How old are you ? Are studying or working ?
I don’t understand is “Never Alone” the heading of your song or ? I haven’t heard it but it sounds romantic.

Who can I turn to,
When nobody needs me?
My heart wants to know,
And so I must go,
Where destiny leads me.
With no star to guide me,
And no-one beside me,
I’ll go on my way,
And after the day,
The darkness can hide me.

Maybe tomorrow,
I’ll find what I’m after.
I’ll cast off my sorrow,
Beg, steal or borrow,
My share of gladness.
With you I could learn to,
With you, on a new day.
But who, can I turn to,
If you turn away?

Please listen to my recording and respond with a voice message too. Many thanks.

Where is the love? by the black eyed peas
It’s one of my favorite songs. I fall in love with it ever since a foreign teacher introduced it to me.
It’s a rap. I still can’t catch up with the rhythm. Hope you will love it.
--------------------(segment, not whole song)
what’s wrong with the world, mama
people livin’ like they ain’t got no mama
i think the whole world addicted to the drama
only attracted to things that’ll bring you trauma
overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
but we still got terrorists here livin’ in the usa, the big cia
the bloods and the crips and the kkk
but if you only have love for your own race
then you only leave space to discriminate
and to discriminate only generates hate
and when you hate then you’re bound to get irate, yeah
badness is what you demonstrate
and that’s exactly how anger works and operates
man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
take control of your mind and meditate
let your soul gravitate to the love, y’all, y’all
people killin’, people dyin’
children hurt and you hear them cryin’
can you practice what you preach
and would you turn the other cheek
father, father, father help us
send us some guidance from above
'cause people got me, got me questionin’me
where is the love (repeated)

it just ain’t the same, always unchanged
new days are strange, is the world insane
if love and peace is so strong
why are there pieces of love that don’t belong
nations droppin’ bombs
chemical gasses fillin’ lungs of little ones
with the ongoin’ sufferin’ as the youth die young
so ask yourself is the lovin’ really gone
so i could ask myself really what is goin’ wrong
in this world that we livin’ in people keep on givin’ in
makin’ wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
not respectin’ each other, deny their brother
a war is goin’ on but the reason’s undercover
the truth is kept secret, it’s swept under the rug
if you never know truth then you never know love
where’s the love (repeated)

i feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
as i’m gettin’ older, people get colder
most of us only care about money makin’
selfishness got us followin’ our own direction
wrong information always shown by the media
negative images is the main criteria
infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
kids act like what they see in the cinema
yo’, whatever happened to the values of humanity
whatever happened to the fairness in equality
instead in spreading love we spreading animosity

I try to read the last paragraph though my oral english is limited.

Hi Naiverock,

You need to check the pronunciation of a few new words, but your speech flow and ability to group phrases is very good indeed!

#7…Apologies for the singing. I was dared into it for a bet. My excuse is that I need the money.

€20 a song is better than working.

Hi Candy,

Your voice is nice and easy to listen. It is worth for me to learn from you.

Hello everyone!
Let me, tell you , one of my favorite songs. I really loved this song, When I heard it at first time.
“Until you” by “Sheyane Ward”

Until you

Baby life was good to me
But you just made it better
I love the way you stand by me
Throught any kind of weather
I dont wanna run away
Just wanna make your day
When you fell the world is on your shoulders
Dont wanna make it worse
Just wanna make us work
Baby tell me i will do whatever
[Chorus]
It feels like nobody ever knew me until you knew me
Feels like nobody ever loved me until you loved me
Feels like nobody ever touched me until you touched me
Baby nobody, nobody,until you
Baby it just took one hit of you now I’m addicted
You never know what’s missing
Till you get everything you need, yeah
I don’t wanna run away
Just wanna make your day
When you feel the world is on your shoulders
Don’t wanna make it worse
Just wanna make us work
Baby tell me,I’ll do whatever
It feels like nobody ever knew me until you knw me
Feels like nobody ever loved me until you loved me
Feels like nobody ever touched me until you touched me
Baby,nobody,nobody until you
See it was enough to no
If I ever let you go
I would be no one
Cos I never thought I’d feel
All the things you made me feel
Wasn’t looking for someone until you
[Chorus repeat twice]
Nobody, nobody, until you

Skin dead,dead head
Every body gone bad
Situation,aggravation
Everybody allegation
In the news,on the suite
Everybody dog food
Bang bang,shot dead
Everybody’s gone mad

All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us

Hello everyone,

Now, I know it looks like that I am trying to resuscitate an obselete topic, but actually this sort of practice helps me shape my speaking skills into what it sounds like today.

So, as my tribute to the method, and of course, to the lady that started this topic (CandyFloss), I hope that all of you don’t mind that I sing one of my personal favourite. Bobby Caldwell’s “Heart of Mine” was recently reproduced by a Japanese jazz singer Ken Hirai. I particularly love the track because of its slow tempo, its clear pronounciation by the singer and its relaxing tune.

Without any further due, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you “Heart of Mine” :

Heart of Mine
As Made Famous By : Ken Hirai
Written By : Bobby Caldwell

One day I may find true love that will last forever and ever
Till then I’ll spend a lifetime wishing us together
I never thought she’d say goodbye
And I’ll never understand the reasons why

[Reff]
Heart of mine
How will you keep from dying?
Stop reminiscing
Who is she kissing
Heart of mine
Oh what’s the use in trying
No one can mend you now

Oh, love plays cruel games
I can’t believe she has found another to love her
Does she miss me?
Sometimes I just can’t help but wonder
If I could stop the hands of time
Then I’d know she’d always be forever mine

*Back to [Reff]

I hope that didn’t sound too bad…

If you can’t find a native speaker near you, why not learn from the famous singers out there?

Of course there are few tips that you can use as guidelines when you decide to practise pronouncing by singing songs :

  1. Use songs with slow tempo for starters. I strongly advise you not to rap on your first attempt. You might spring your, uh, tongue. That and it’s very difficult to rap or sing songs in fast tempo. However, if you are used to singing slow songs, you may try this challenge.

  2. Make sure that you have a good playback media. If you can’t afford to buy a 7.1 surround sound speaker, then a good headphone usually doesn’t cost you that much. Make sure that your media is also good. I think we’ll need an expert opinion on this one.

  3. Try practice with older song (or ones being recycled/re-performed). Songs from the 80’s and 90’s are generally easier to practice with than recent ones.

  4. Always focus on the pronounciation while singing. In other words, try to mimic the singer as close as you can, in terms of saying the lyrics. It doesn’t matter that you are a bit (or much) off-tune as long as you get the pronounciation right. If you feel that you may slightly go off-tune when you need to sing, please refrain from singing in the presence of other people or public place ;-p.

  5. Avoid using songs with offensive words and materials. If you are not sure of the “safety” of the song you choose, have an expert translate the lyric for you. If you insist on practising with these songs, I am afraid that you will develop a habit of using those offensive words, which is impolite and bad.
