Rooms are now open/opened for bookings

Rooms are now open/opened for bookings through Connect@Changi mobile app.

  1. Which is the correct word?
  2. Should it be “booking” instead?

Thanks!

To me, both ‘open’ and ‘opened’ are acceptable. The word ‘booking’ can be pluralized.

Rooms are now open for bookings. (They have kept the rooms open - ‘open’ is adjective)
Rooms are now opened for bookings. (They have opened the rooms - ‘opened’ is participle)

I would definitely prefer ‘open’ as this simply means ‘available’. If you used ‘opened’, the suggestion would be that the rooms had been locked up before.

This possibility cannot be ruled out in view of the pandemic, Alan!
