Hi,
Please could you tell me if there is any difference between ‘high srtreet’ and ‘main street’? Are they interchageable? For example, Oxford Street is a high street in London = Oxford Street is a main street in London.
Hi Irina,
They both have the same meaning according to the Cambrigde Free Dictionary Online. I quote both entries: “A street where the most important shops and businesses in a town are.” CFDO also says that “high street” is used in Britain and “main street” in the US. So, in my opinion they are interchangeable.
Hope this helps.
Thank you very much, Masme!
You’re very welcome dear Irina.
Hi Irina,
I am still waiting to hear another recording from you
Hi Alan,
Sorry, can I change the subject of the recording? ‘My favourite book’ topic seems to me more motivating.
Yes indeed Irina, that will be fine. I’ll look forward to that.
Hi Alan,
The recording has been uploaded. Hope you enjoy it. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Irina,
Unfortunately I can’t find your recording.
