Hello, everybody!

Hello everyone! My name is Ivelina, I am from Bulgaria and I really like this site and forum. Actually I didn’t knew about it, my teacher taught me. But it’s very nice, with a lot of information, tests and etc.
Please, excuse my English - I am learning it by myself and I still make a lot of mistakes sometimes. I want to learn English and Japanese at the university and this year I will take my mature English exam at school , so please everyone - wish me luck.
I have a lot time till then, so I’ll be around and practice, practice, practice

Hi Ivelina,
To me, Japanese is another headache. I am still wrestling with the 50 sounds, let alone the phrases and grammar. Do you like Japanese culture? I agree that Japan is a special country. But I wonder why an European would like to study a language in Asia instead of other languages in Europe.
Justin

Hi, Justin!

I am really glad you asked me that.
Yes, I really like Japanese culture. And not only theirs but the all East-Asian culture.
Why Japanese? It’s hard to explain, but I really feel the language close, even if that is impossible. The Bulgarian and the English are very different languages. The Bulgarian and the Japanese - even more. But I like the Japanese just like I like the English - not because of a caprice or something - it just comes from inside me.
I have familiarized with the Japanese language from their movies and serials. They directed me to the Asian cinema as a whole. I have watched Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese and Chinese productions and everyone of them was wonderful.
I love the way the Korean and the Chinese languages sound, but the Japanese gives me an entirely different shiver.
That’s the reason.

Hello Ivelina,

I too have a passion for Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese. Such wonderful languages to hear! I find them all in some way or another music to my ears. Many people say that French is the language of love but I find Asian languages the languages of love for me! hehe

Take care!
Megan

Hi, Megan! :))

Oh, yes, here I agree with you - just like music to the ears!
And I really don’t like French - some people are like… I don’t know - in love with it? But I hate it. No offence to everyone that speaks French or like it, but no - that’s maybe the most disgusting language in the world. When I listen people talking French I always get the feeling that they have something in their mouths while talking

Hi dear friend,
I am happy to find you as a friend.
Do you know other words for pretty.
Yours trully,
shahriar

Hello Ivelina,

I’m less fond of Latin based languages as well. No offense to anyone speaking a Latin based language, it’s just my own personal preference. Though I find many languages interesting or beautiful to listen to. I also love to see how Japanese, Chinese, Thai and such are written. I think the characters and different writing are quite beautiful, much like some kind of artwork and I think it’s fun to learn as well.

Take care!
Megan

Bonjour Ivelina,
I had the same feeling when I was watching the movie series - “TAXI”.
But we have to admit that French speakers’ tongues are really nimble.

Justin

Bonjour Justin,

Yes we must admit that. But we must also admit that the comedy series ‘‘TAXI’’ are very funny. At least for me

And my favorite part, when the commissar says: ''EMILIEN!!! " . Ohhh, so much laugh on it! ^^

Hello,

You shouldn’t to have prejudice the french language. It is a beatiful language. For me it sounds nice and I can’t say the same about the japanese and other languages like chinese. Maybe my ears are used to hear other kind of sounds and so i didn’t understand how you can talk not very well about french. That’s it.

Best regards

Well, people are different and like different things.
Maybe

Best wishes,
Ivi

Hi Maurilio,
Your mother tongue is Portuguese, am I right? I heard that Portuguese and French are very similar. If so, it’s no wonder why you are used to hearing French. No offence to anyone when we were talking about our feelings about a language. My native language is Chinese (tradtional), but I don’t have any bias in it. I hate Literary Chinese, especially when I was at high school preparing for exams. It’s my nightmare!
How about you? Did you enjoy learning your own language?

Justin

Hi Justin…!! I’m Karthik… I just got my account created in this forum. Its my pleasure to talk to you.
I too have seen that Chinese alphabets are full of pictures and makes a child scared of them

Karthik.

Hi, Justin

Well, I learned french when I was 12 year old but now I don’t remember nothing that I learned, just some words like Bonjour… or J’me apelle…or Pale vouz france? I see sometimes some french films, but with subtitle in portuguese, because I don’t understand nothing. Brasilians don’t speak french. Maybe spanish be a similar language. I live on the border betwen Paraguai and Brasil where is usual hear spanish in the streets. I speak spanish and I like it too much. But english is a challenge for me and for all brasilians. I’m planning to go abroad next year, maybe to NY - I’m not sure when. I’ve been studying english for 3 years because is important to my job and because I can have more acess to american culture. I believe for you speak english a lot you must study everyday or always when you can. I like the language of Shakespeare.

Regarding the portuguese, I had a lot ploblems with, but when I was at college I studied too much and I learned to speak and write portuguese very well. There is saying: in the earth of blind who has a eye is king… That’s truth and I believe it.

Maurílio

Hi, Ivkata

Sorry if said something you didn’t like. You are right. People often are different from each other and it’s wonder, isn’t it??? I like french and I would like to speak it a lot, but I dont have time to do it. I spend my free time studying english.

Maurílio

Ooo, common! You didn’t offend me at all. Actually we formed an interesting conversation with the others.
I really wish you go study abroad! It’s my biggest wish too. So, good luck!
