Carbon ..... is a natural gas found in our atmosphere. Humans breathe in oxygen and breath out this gas that plants, in turn, absorb and use to stay alive. However, levels of this gas have increased in recent years because it is released when we burn coal, gasoline and oil. It is now considered a greenhouse gas.

Carbon Dioxide is the answer.

Carbon monoxide can also be released from stuff like gasoline and coal burn but it’s generally released at lower temperatures when the chemical reaction is called “incomplete”. Plants need to oxidize it to use carbon dioxide in its photosynthesis process.

Carbon tax has to do with taxing the use of carbon to reduce its amount in the atmosphere and reduce the effects caused by the high amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere which causes temperature rises. It’s not about the molecule itself.

That’s right. Carbon Dioxide is also one of the major gases responsible for the climate crisis we have been facing for quite a while now.
