The graph below shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the amount of fish, lamb, beef, and chicken consumed in a European country from 1979 to 2004.

Overall, fish was the least eaten item compared with the other three types of meat throughout the period. Also, the country’s citizens demonstrated an increasing preference for chicken for consumption.

In 1979, the amount of beef consumed stood at around 220 grams per person per week, 70 grams higher than the figures for chicken and lamb. Meanwhile, only about 60 grams of weekly consumption of fish per head was recorded. There was a sharp increase of 100 grams in the consumption of chicken per capita weekly in 2004, whereas the usage of beef and lamb fluctuated in a downward trend.

The whole 25-year period witnessed a stabilization in a person’s weekly fish consumption, which remained at around 50 grams. Beef, the most consumed meat in 1979, was surpassed by chicken in 2004, whose figure stayed at 250 grams per person per week, the highest number in the chart.
