Are the commmss needed?

A 12-year-old girl, who had been missing since Apr 16, has been found, the police said in an update on Thursday (Apr 21).

I have placed a comma after “girl” and “16”. Does that make the sentence incorrect?

Either way is OK. It really depends on intent. I think personally I’d leave them out because the fact that she’s been missing since April is important.
