You was or you were, which one is correct?

Is it you was or you were? When I typed ‘you was’ in microsoft word, there is green line under was and it disappeared when I changed to were. But I was referring to a person and therefore shouldn’t it be ‘was’ rather than ‘were’.

I can’t fault your logic but I’m afraid the past of ‘be’ for second person or persons is ‘were’.

‘You’ always takes ‘were’ when using the past tense, just like it always takes ‘are’ in the present tense.

‘Was’ is only for 3rd person singular past tense.
