It just occurred to me that the word “XING” can mean various things depending on the context. For example, there are cities that have signs reading “PEDS XING” which stand for “Pedestrians Crossing”.

In some communications I came across the expression to X in the context of to strikeout/strikethrough/erase or delete something because of expensiveness or impossibility. So the doing of that might be called X-ing?
