Would you consider...? more polite than Do you consider...? Help me out with this one please

Hi

I was watching a comedy the other day. I heard two people say the following:

  • A: Would you consider the lawnmower as a household tool?
  • B: Yes, I would consider…

Is ‘Would you consider…?’ more polite than 'Do you consider…? Or doesn’t it make much difference?
Please help me out.

Yes, Masme, it is. I find ‘Would you … ?’ more polite than ‘Do you … ?’
