Hi,
If I say, that 'I went for a walk in the woods. ’ In the next sentence how should I refer back with ‘it’ or with ‘they’.
So:
I went for a walk in the woods. It was nice.
OR
I went for a walk in the woods. They were nice.
The second sound quite strange, but ‘woods’ is a plural from, isn’t it?
Thanks for your answer.

Hi,
Logically ‘woods’ should attract a plural as in: We went for a walk in the woods last week. They are situated to the south of the city.

“I went for a walk in the woods. It was nice.”
In the sentences above, the word ‘it’ would be interpreted as a reference to ‘a walk in the woods’.
