who will I be there

Hello everyone,

Two co-workers talking.

  • So you went for an interview there.
  • Yes.
  • I can’t understand why you are itching to work in that place?
  • As if you wouldn’t like to work there yourself.
  • Who? Me? No way. I’m fine here. I’m the Deputy Head of Sales here, by the way. And who will I be there?

Is “who will I be there” correct in this context? The intended meaning is: I’m working as the Deputy Head of Sales here and as who will I work there?

Thank you.

Hi Klpno,
I corrected some of this punctuation in my previous message. You obviously didn’t spot it, so please take careful note.

“Who would I be there?” is okay in informal conversation where you can place the correct emphasis on the speech for people to understand your meaning. In writing, you should use something like, “What position would I hold there?”

Thank you, Beeesneees!
