Who put the bandages on?

:blossom: In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. :blossom:

Hi!

A: OK. Your wrist, what happened to your wrist.
B: I sprained it when I fell.
.
.
A: Does it hurt?
B: It did when I fell. But it doesn’t hurt now. It’s fine now.
A: Oh, good. Who put the bandages on?
B: The doctor.

Why “Who put the bandages on” and not “Who put the bandages on it?” or “Who put the bandages on your wrist”?

Thank you

People shorten sentences, especially when the longer sentence is not needed for clarity.

There is no grammatical or syntactical reason.

Thank you so much, NearlyNapping :rose:
Very nice.

It is contextually clear that the wrist needed bandaging, so there’s no need to mention ‘wrist’ again.
