Which sentence is correct? Pronouns

  1. The lucky one is I, for having you by my side.
  2. The lucky one is me, for having you by my side.

Which one is correct? I think it 2 but not sure.

This one would work too if you rewrote it as follows: I am the lucky one because I have you by my side.

I think it’s grammatically correct but it sounds odd.

I believe #1 is grammatically correct, but no one would ever say it that way. I think we dropped this “it is I” type form long ago, except for people using it as an affection.

@Torsten’s rephrasing of it is, of course, fine.

I would guess that this text was preceded by someone saying something like “I am so lucky to be here”, in which case #2 would flow a little better.
