Our planet is suffering due to many problems which have to be solved before it is too late. Forest areas are getting smaller. Animals are hunted so much that many kinds of them are in danger of becoming extinct. Clean water is not enough for the needs of people. They are threats to human lives. However, I believe that the most important resource which is disappearing and needs to be saved is forests.
First of all, forests are very necessary for our lives. Forests are the lungs of us. They are the main supplies of fresh air. Thanks to photosynthesis processes, green plants are able to absorb carbon dioxide. They use energy obtained from sun light to turn them into oxygen. Everyday, tons of air pollution is emitted to the atmosphere from companies and factories all over the world. Carbon dioxide is the main element in these hazardous gases. If forests are chopped down too much, number of green trees decrease quickly while a large amount of carbon dioxide are directly sent out to the air. This is the main cause of a phenomenon called “Greenhouse Effect” which makes global climate change in recent years. The Earth’s temperature is increasing significantly. The thick layers of ice in two poles are melting with rapid rate. These are the reasons why many places in the world become drought-stricken areas while others are hit by big floods. Therefore, saving forests is one of the most urgent tasks of all countries.
In addition, forests are the house of many kinds of animals. Herbivores eat grass and leaves to live and in their turn, they become the food of carnivores. This creates the balance and harmony in ecosystems. Number of animals is maintained in a necessary level. However, deforestation is destroying this thing. Many people are clearing forest to crop plants to earn money. Houses and companies were built in places where animals had resided in the past. Their food is more and more limited. According to researches, some specifies of animal were extinct and many others are in the edge of extinction. Thus, saving our forests also means saving our animal’s kingdom.
For the above reasons, we have to protect our forests if we want to have better environments for ourselves, our next generations in the future and all the animals around us.
