Which preposition do you use for 'speech'?

Hi everyone,

Which preposition do you use for ‘speech’?

  1. I got nervous when I was talking [color=blue]on a speech.
  2. I got nervous when I was talking [color=blue]at a speech.

I search it on the Internet. I didn’t see many people use the prepositions for ‘speech’. I simply found out some data that one uses ‘on’. So I would like to make sure it.

Thanks for helping me out.

Good morning Maggie. I think you could maybe use :-

I became nervous when I was making a speech.

I became nervous when I was giving a speech.

Maybe one of our grammar experts can find fault with this, but it is only a suggestion.
