I have heard the following sentence in a movie

Where you headed to?

I figured out the meaning which is "where are you going to? or In which direction are you going to " correct me if I’m wrong.

My Question is :
Is the “quoted sentence” grammatically correct ?
Why the sentence is in past tense but the meaning is in Present Progressive ?
Is it a native way of asking this question?

You heard an orally shortened form of, ‘Where are you headed to?’ which is more informal than ‘Where are you heading?’ but means the same thing.
