Where are you from?

Hi everybody

I am from Valencia, Spain. I especify Spain because there are around 21 different towns named Valencia all over the world. Of course, we were the first… hahahahaha
As far as I know most cities named Valencia are in South America, the others I really don’t know.
During the next weeks, we are going to celebrate the famous FALLAS (from 15th to 19th march)

Is anybody interested in this amazing festival?

With pleasure I will tell you serveral funny stories about the origen, the celebration and other traditions. Just let me know and I will explain them.

If I make mistakes I want to be corrected, please.

regards,

Charo

I live in ESSEN in Germany, although I originally came from England. In England I was born, and lived for almost 50 years, in a small town called Hartlepool, which is on the North-East coast of England. It was a small town, known for its making fishing industry. It had a wonderful community spirit about it, but over the years the town has grown and the people have moved further from the original centre into newer, more modern houses. The first houses were more better described as cottages, without bathrooms, and with an outside toilet, and with two or three children sharing the same bed. No comforts in those days. Every child walked to school with his neighbourhood friends. Parents never had to go to the school with them, because the children were always in the company of others. How things have changed, but have they changed for the better ? That is a good question.

Nice to meet you here, my friends. My name is Sun Zhe. (And my English name is Cinderella.) I am from China. I want to speak fluent English and familiarize myself with the rules of English grammar.

The traditional Thai greeting, the wai , is generally offered first by the youngest of the two people meeting with their hands together, fingertips pointing upwards as the head is bowed to touch their face to the hands , usually coinciding with the spoken word
“Sawat-dii khrap” for male speakers, and “Sawat-dii ka” for females. The elder then is to respond afterwards in the same way.
Do you know “Muay Thai” or Thai boxing? Muay Thai is the national sport in Thailand. Muay Thai achieved popularity all over the world. Muay Thai has received with its full-contact rules allowing strikes including elbows , throws and knees.

Hi there dear Torsten,…I’m so sorry…and I’m quite ashamed I haven’t dropped you some lines before…I really can’t understand how my mother mannaged to do all her housework properly,to go to work as well and even more to have time for reading and for herself!:)Well,I am from Romania,I was born here…57 years ago…dear me…there will be 57 years on 28 March!Let’s draw a line and see what I’ve got…Hmmmm, let me see…all I have is a 34 year old daughter, married…and 2 grandchildren,Karina who’ll be 11 next month and Andreas who’s only 2 months old.I love them more than I can say! What do I have more?A huge passion for music and foreign languages! Is it much or is it less than I had expected?Well…difficult to say anyway but let’s be thankful for what we’ve already got and hope for staying healthy! How Life in Romania is?Romania is an European country,a member of the European Union even if some of us like it or not and living here is pretty the same as in the whole Europe in this world ruled by the power of money.Just remember that we read in the newspapers only the facts those who write them want us to know about…If you really want to know more I’ll be glad to answer all your questions…See you soon…Mariana.-
