Hi, Iā€™m from Romania, a country that is lying in Europe and I am living in Bucharest, itā€™s capital. My country is a nice one, and though is not too big, you can find here not only plains and mountains but also a sea (Black sea) with a beautiful seaside, as well. Unfortunately we have had bad luck, because we had belonged to the communist system for about 50 years. Though we have changed the political system since 1990, the damages made were not only in the standard of living but also inside of the people. The latter one is the most difficult thing to change, but in the next years I hope it will be OK. In Romania there are living 22 mil people and about 2 mil. of them are working abroad. These days the latter will come back in the country to celebrate our winter holidays and the passing in the New Year.
I want to wish you and the whole English learning team A Happy New Year!
Torsten, I wish you A Happy New Year!

There is poverty every where, here in Colombia many people do not have internet, specially in small towns, or are bad services. This is a country with lots of mountains, and communications are difficult.
Do you live in Irak in a secur city? I have heard of lots of murders every week for religious ambitions, bombs etc. :?:

Dear Mr. Torsten Daerr,
I am from Iran, and Iā€™ve been teaching English at a college for over three decades. I am interested in teaching English pronunciation and dialogues. Although the lessons that you email me are more suited to elementary and intermediate level students, I enjoy reading and reviewing them. I speak English only when Iā€™m with my students in class. At other times I speak my native language (Farssi) with everybody including my wife and my children. I consider studying English a life-time activity and effort for an English teacher; therefore, when I go through your English exercises and tests and find out I have answered most of the questions correctly, I get a feeling of enjoyment , confidence and pride. Thanks a lot for your interesting email English lessons. By the way, the reason it took so long for me to join your forum and communicate with you was that I was simply unaware of the procedure of sending you emails. I am very happy to be a member of your forum, and Iā€™ll be able to show you my photo as soon as I learn how to do it.
Sincerely yours, Mehdi Kamyab

Hello Torsten, and all the members & instructors of this Site/ Forum.
My name is Noren Lee, I am 30 years old/ male, writing in a great rush. I am from Nepal or betterā€¦Republic of Nepal (an underdeveloped country but rich in nature), South Asia. Needless to say that the capital of my country is Kathmandu. The city I live in is Dharan. Nepal has just been out of the Monarchy rule. The cruel King has gone after the Constituency Assembly Election was successfully held last year (April, 2008). The (UML) Maoist party got the most number of votes (but not the majority by one seat) than the other parties. A new constituency is being written but as far as I am concerned, the job will not be done on time i.e. within 2 years. I am not a politician and I have definitely made a lot of grammatical mistakes (which I hope you will check out and explain them to me later). Tell you what, one of the greatest problems aside from others, we, the Nepalese are facing right now is 16 hours of load shedding a day! Do you believe it? Because of this, I hardly get access to the Internet. Two hours a day, and even that if I am lucky. Actually, Nepal is very rich in natural resources, there are rivers, forests, Himalayas, and above all, there lies the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. Lord Buddha was born here in Nepal. Well, thereā€™s soon going to be load shedding, I must be fast, there are many things to tell you. Oh Jesus Christ, the power got cut and the UPS is beeping, thereā€™s only a backup of 20 minutes or less left. More later, this much for today, bye for now. I really enjoy this Site, I have improved a lot and hope to make a lot of friends from every corner of the world.
