When should we use: Got + failed (Got+Past Simple).

Since I have not got any answer, I, again, am posting this.
When should I use Got+failed OR Got+disturbed.
Only when some other things make us/me to feel like this.
Thanks,Suresh

Hi,

Slightly confused about ‘Got failed’. Can you give an illustrative sentence using this? ‘Got disturbed’ is a passive like: ‘Was disturbed’.

Alan

Sorry, I should have given the eg earlier.

I am in testing job and I test some test cases. Sometimes, they fail due to Application errors, sometimes due to Script(the code) errors and sometimes due to network problems. In such situations, Whenever my test case fails, should I tell - “Test Case -1 got failed”
OR
just - “Test case failed”
What is the difference between these two.

Hi,

To me ‘got failed’ doesn’t work because ‘got’ with a past participle usually suggests that something has been accomplished: got started/got finished/got caught and so on whereas ‘failed’ doesn’t do that. As you suggest: ‘Test case failed’ would be the solution.

Alan

Thanks Alan, for your reply and time.

Suresh

Could we say “I got failed on my breathalizer/driving/maths test”?

I am not sure but, I used to think,
“Got” + failed = We have been failed by Some Person/Entity.
Got + Transaferred=We have been transferred by Some Person/Entity.
Now I know, I was wrong and these are not correct, according to Alan - who has good knowledge.
