When are human being becoming more humane?

When reading the following tweet by one of my favourite people I follow on Twitter, Jason Hickel, it occurred to me that not only places need to become more humane but us human beings too:

It turns out that when cities are used primarily by people instead of primarily by cars, they are clean, peaceful, humane places to live.
