what's the meaning of this line? (from Gone with the wind)

Hi,

I have a question on the meaning of the bold part below:

Scarlett: Rhett! Rhett, where are you going?
Rhett: I’m going back to Charleston, back where I belong.
Scarlett: Please, please take me with you!
Rhett: No, I’m through with everything here. I want peace. I want to see if somewhere there isn’t something left in life of charm and grace. Do you know what I’m talking about?
Scarlett: No! I only know that I love you.
Rhett: That’s your misfortune. [Rhett turns to walk down the stairs]
Scarlett: Rhett… if you go, where shall I go, what shall I do?
Rhett: Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn. [Rhett walks off into the fog]

This is from the classic movie “gone with the wind”, and I cannot understand the bold part. What’s the meaning of somewhere there isn’t?? Please let me know!

Thanks in advance,
sweetpumpkin

Hi, this means the exact same as “I want to see if somewhere there is something left in life of charm and grace.” - he wants to find a place where there is still charm and grace. Based on personal experience, I think that Charleston is a good choice!

Thank you, Luschen. ‘isn’t’ made me quite confused, but now I understood. Thank you!
