What's a "widget"?

I am really computer illiterate. Sometimes I notice the word “widget” on a website. What in the world is a widget? Would you please explain it in simple language that even I can understand?

Thank you.

I’m sure you’ll be able to understand definition 3 here:

What does it means?

What does what mean, Duet? I provided a link to the meaning of ‘widget’ above, as that is exactly what James enquired about.

I meant about the word [color=red]world.
What in the world is a widget?
I meant about the bold part.

‘What in the world’ is idiomatic, just like ‘what on earth…’
It’s an emphatic form of saying ‘what…’

Thank you, Beeesneees, for the simple explanation (for a simple person).

Hello, Duet:

I know that you visit this helpline because you are an excellent student who wants to learn “good” English.

So may I please respectfully remind you that after the words “do,” “does,” and “did,” a person ALWAYS uses the base form of the verb (that is, the form that you look for in a dictionary after you open it).

Thus, “What does it mean?”

Other examples:

Where does she live?
What did you eat?

HAVE A NICE DAY!
