Yes, it is about money. There are various currency myths-- false impressions that the money itself is the economy. Devalued currency, weak currency, etc. Here’s one:

It’s a common misconception, but the denomination of an investment product is not what really matters. With a bewildering array of investment funds available in a multitude of currencies, an investor could be forgiven for thinking that the currency denomination of his investment contract is of primary importance.

The key point, though, is that this demand should not necessarily give rise to the supply of products denominated in different currencies. The central issue in this currency question is that it is assets that count and not the currency that the investment contract is written in.
