What is "wordling?"

Hi everyone,

I came across this article on The Economist; its title is “Wordling the president’s speech.” What does “wordling” mean? Is it a typo of “wording” since I can’t find this peculiar word anywhere?

Thanks in advance.

The picture illustrating the text from the speech comes courtesy of a fabulous web application called wordle, Atomos.

The headline indicates
wordle/ing the President’s speech. The writer has used it the same way as ‘google’ has become a recognised verb (to google something). However, this is a less well known application and ‘wordling’ is not an easily recognisable term the way ‘googling’ has become a recognisable term.

My pupils have great fun creating ‘word clouds’ with Wordle. It picks up the number of times words are used and gives weight to the prominent ones. Try it yourself:

It requires Java

Here’s a ‘wordle’ made with the text of Kitosdad’s short story The Little Robin
