WHat is the difference between thoroughly and throughoutly?

Hi,

can you please explain meanings of these words and difference between them?

Thanks,
Kostya

Well Kostya, the word thoroughly means ‘with great detail’ while the word throughoutly does not exist.[YSaerTTEW443543]

TOEFL listening lectures: A university lecture on the history of the English language[YSaerTTEW443543]

Thanks Mr. Torsten,

I asked because I found in one of the internet dictionaries that such word (throughoutly) do exist and I was not sure about its difference from “thoroughly”.

However, I am pretty sure that the word “throughout” exists, is its meaning close to that of “thoroughly”?

Thanks,
Kostya

Throughly: entirely that is end to end of

Thoroughoutly: same meaning of above almost
But Mr Tortsten answer does’nt exist is wrong I verfied through my
Dictionary

Hi,

‘Thoroughly’ suggests ‘completely’ in the sense of ( examining something ) in great detail. For me the other word is ‘throughout’ which suggests from start to finish and functions as both adverb and preposition. I don’t know the form with ‘ly’ at the end.

Some examples as an adverb: We went on holiday and it rained throughout. As a preposition: We went on holiday and it rained throughout the week.

OK,
thank you very much for the explanation.
