Learning is a lifelong process. People learn from life, learn from books and learn from experiences of others. Watching films is also a good way for them to study. In my part, they give me a lot of information about countries where they were made.

From watching films, I can learn some other countries’ cultures and rules. Nowadays, many films crossed over the distance and language barriers and they were shown at the theatres all over the world. In my country, it is easy for me to watch a film which was made in United States, France, England, India and some other countries. They give me a general view of the cultures and habits of people live in there. I can know the traditional customs that they wear in their festivals, or the food that they often eat. If you watch Japanese films, you may be interesting in the way they make and enjoy a cup of tea. Furthermore, I have some information about laws or rules in these nations to add to my knowledge from watching films. For instance, in some countries, like England or Thailand, people drive their vehicles at the left of the road.

In addition, I am able to learn the language that actors used in films. Today, the world is becoming flat, the distances between different countries are decreasing. Using fluently a foreign language, especially English, is always an advantage. At school and most of language centres, people are often taught academic language. Therefore, it is hard for students to communicate in a real conversation with foreigners. However, the problem is solved if they learn how people talk to each other in general speaking from films.

Finally, watching films give me a chance to learn the history of other countries. Not as history books with numbers and dry writings, history events are recreated in attractive ways. For example, a Chinese historical film is often invested with a large of money. Hundreds of actors are invited to take part in a battle scene. This not only helps people to enjoy in watching films, but also makes them understand and remember these event more quickly and deeply.

Shortly, films can tell us much information about other countries’ culture, their language and their history. One day, if I have a chance to visit these countries, I at least have some knowledge about there and make my trip more enjoyable.
