what does "over the weekend" mean?

What does mean “over the weekend”? Is that any particular weekend or it could be any weekend in past, present or future?

And also is there exist such an idiom as “over [color=red]a weekend”? If so, what is the difference between “over [color=red]a weekend” and “over [color=red]the weekend”?

Not to mention the accuracy, I think a weekend means some weekend whereas the weekend mean a particular weekend you had intention to talk about. Also, I think over the weekend may exist but its meaning may vary depending on what precedes it. Hope this help.

“Over the weekend” means during the whole weekend. It refers to whichever weekend, past, present or future, that the speaker intends it to mean.

“Over a weekend” means during a whole weekend. It’s not specified which weekend, so it probably means any weekend.

Hi,

Does the ‘happy hour’ mean the weekend itslef or it’s just for a specific day/time during the week? It is an American Slang ,though.

“Happy hour” is a time after the work day is over, when bars serve alcoholic drinks at reduced prices. Often the bars have it from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or later on Fridays, but some of them have it on other days.
