It seems to me it means a spirit gets into a body. Is it right?
Thank you so much.

Probably not. Could you please provide a sentence, or preferably a number of sentences to explain how the word is used in context.
“Installation art describes an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that are often site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces,…”

Hi Eugene. that does not refer to performance art, which is what the original poster indicated.
In the context of the Wikipedia quotation, installation art is a commissioned piece of artwork, often a sculpture of some sort, designed for a specific locality/site and specific purpose.
That was already my understanding, and why I queried the term in the message above.
Because the original poster specified ‘performance art’ I have asked him for further details.
Hi Bev,
“Installation art can be either temporary or permanent. Installation artworks have been constructed in exhibition spaces such as museums and galleries, as well as public and private spaces. The genre incorporates a broad range of everyday and natural materials, which are often chosen for their “evocative” qualities, as well as new media such as video, sound, performance, immersive virtual reality and the internet. Many installations are site-specific in that they are designed to exist only in the space for which they were created, appealing to qualities evident in a three-dimensional immersive medium.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Installation_art
Relying on the definition of ‘performance art’ --‘a type of art in which an artist gives a performance using different art forms such as acting, dance, and painting’–my guess you could install (make it ready for use) practically anything of shape and even shapeless things like sound. Perhaps even voices from the Underworld, for the sake of enjoyment.
You seem to be over-thinking that Eugene. I don’t agree that the term is likely to be used for that.
I’d rather wait for the original poster to confirm the context than try to second-guess* him.
This is my situation about “installation”. I am teaching “Solutions” Intermediate by Tim Falla, Paul A Davies, at Unit 10A called Inspiration, part A Vocabulary and listening named Art and artists, page 94. At exercise 1, we have 6 photos. The task is to match the photos with the words in the box which include “an installation”. On photo 3, of which the key is “an installation”, we see a man lying in a bed, and a girl, looking like a ghost, is going to get into his body.
It sounds as if you have matched the wrong word with the wrong photo. What are the other words and what do the other photos show?
The other words are buskers, a gig, performance art, a recital, a still life, and they all match the other photos.
I think it somehow relates to this visual-arts-cork.com/install … definition
I know what instalklatrion art is, but unless the photo you are looking at is a model of a man lying in a bed with a model of a ghostlike woman, then it does not fit the picture. I cannot help further unless you can provide the images or an accurate description of them.
Yes, a model of a man lying in a bed with a model of a ghostlike woman.
Thank you very much Beeesneees!
