What does "have the life" mean in one of quotes of Joseph Campbell?

Mr. Joseph Cambell says: We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
And my question. What does “have the life” mean in this context? Same as “live a life”?
I’m a non-native speaker of English and would be most grateful, if you could give me an answer
as a native speaker of English.
Many thanks in advance.

Hello Lele (I take it that’s your first name)? Welcome to our forum and many thanks for posting your question. Yes, I think your interpretation of the phrase ‘have a life’ is correct. It means ‘live the life’ or ‘live the way’.

Where did you find the text?

Best regards,
Torsten

Thank you very much for your prompt answer.
This quote was found before the prologue of “Origin” written by the author, Dan Brown.
Many thanks.
