What does ca. mean?

Hello everyone,

Could anyone explain to me the meaning of ca in the following context?

citb.co.uk/documents/about-u … ix%20b.pdf

Sufficiency descriptors are provided as guidance. If 20 marks are available for an AC and the evidence in the submission approximates to the ‘pass’ descriptor, that indicates it should attract 10 marks out of 20, if a ‘good pass’ then ca. 15 out of 20. The descriptors are not comprehensive, and cannot be, as there are many ways in which a submission can exceed or fall short of the requirements.

Referral [ca.1/4] Pass [2 marks] Good Pass [ca. 3/4]

Thank you.

It looks as if it refers to a term used on the Assessment Criteria documentation. It seems that the Assessment Criteria are further broken down into more precise statements and that is what ‘ca’ refers to. Without seeing the original full document, we cannot tell what the abbreviation stands for. (I’ve often seen this sort of breakdown of the main area of an assessment document referred to as ‘competencies’ - competency achieved, perhaps?)

Thank you, Beeesneees.
