Hi guys,
If you know TakeThat’s famous song, titled “Back for Good”. Does it mean “Back forever”?
I know that if saying “The shop has been closed for good” === “The shop has been closed forever”.
Thanks…

Back to good means some good memories of the past.
Yes, it means “back forever”.
Back for good means “Back and never going to leave again.” That’s close to “back forever,” but it’s more conveying the commitment to never leave.

This could be understood with a different meaning - if you say “the shop has been closed forever,” - with the ‘has been’ you could be also reaching into the past and saying that the shop was never open - much the same as saying “this shop has been closed since the beginning of time.” Similar to one above, the “for good” is the meaning that the shop has closed and it’s expected to never reopen.
