What comes after freshman, hexagon, heptuple?

These words have been making me mad. Memorise them and their followings are difficult for me.

Hi Bookaholic,

What do you mean by ‘what comes after’ these?

freshman - sophomore (don’t know what comes after sophomore)
encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Polygons (look under “polygon names”)
PS:
heptuple - I don’t even know what it means.

Oh, do you mean the next in the sequence?

Freshman— 9th grade / 1st year
Sophomore— 10th grade / 2nd year
Junior— 11th grade / 3rd year
Senior— 12th grade / 4th year

Hexagon - 6 sided shape.
Heptagon (or occasionally septagon) - 7 sided shape.
Octagon - 8 sided shape.
Nonagon - 9 sided shape.
Decagon - 10 sided shape.
Hendecagon - 11 sided shape.
Dodecagon - 12 sided shape.

I’ve never heard the word ‘heptuple’. Do you mean ‘septuple’? (Consisting of 7 parts.) Octuple would be next.

Oh thank you all. I wrote heptuple just because I had thought hepta means seven as in heptagon!

Hepta is Greek, septem is Latin.

Both mean seven? Amen! I have no more post-its here! Please forgive me, God.
Hope that our great scientists will invent a device helping people to learn everything in a short while.
