what am I supposed to do Vs What I am supposed to do?

Hello,

Please tell me which one is correct

  1. what am I supposed to do

  2. What I am supposed to do?

Thanks,
Sagar

Hi,

It isn’t really a question of correctness or not. (1) needs a capital ‘w’ and is a question and needs a question mark.(2) isn’t a question and doesn’t need a question mark. That’s about all I can say about them.

Alan

What am I supposed to do? is the correct.

Also you can say: I am supposed to go to the work early.

Supposed = imagine

I’m afraid that is the furthest thing from the truth.
Where did you learn that?

Also, you should say “I’m supposed to go to work early” (no “the”)

Hello Boeid,

I suspect that you have said ‘suppose’ means ‘imagine’ because it is used to introduce a hypothesis and trace or ask about what follows from it
Suppose he came in right now / Imagine he came in right now.

‘supposed to do’ here is akin to ‘expected to do’

What am i supposed to do? / What am I expected to do?
This is what I am supposed to do. / This is what I am expected to do.

In your example:
I am supposed to go to work early. / I am expected to go to work early.

Our Tort System,

I have learned as British English not US. I think it’s not a big deal for you to know where did I learn that!

Beeesneees,

Thank you for your clarification.

I believe the word was correctly written - supposed (some sort of command or duty ).

Another example:

  1. Where can I go?
  2. I want to know where I can go?

Please observe the difference.
