We usually use our hands to stroke someone to pet them

Hi,
Is this correct: “We usually use our hands to stroke someone to pet them”?

Well nowadays you had better be careful who you stroke or pet!

Is this a serious question?

Hi Fedorov,

I think, “We usually use our hands to stroke someone to pet him” sounds better. But it would look strange, if you used any other part of the body to stroke someone.

Best wishes.

Yuri

That is possible, but two subsequent to + infinitives are a bit awkward; it would be better to write “we usually use our hands to stroke when we pet someone”.

Just a test:)

Perhaps you’re right, but what if it’s not he but she or it?

No doubt.
I thank all of you for your participation and appreciate that very much.
