wake up OR get up

Can anyone tell me why i cannot use get up instead of wake up?

Hello Khurshid,

To “wake up” is to stop sleeping.

To “get up” is to leave your bed.

A lot Germans say ‘stand up’ when they refer to the processing of ‘getting up’ because ‘stand up’ sounds very similar to the German expression ‘aufstehen’ which actually can mean ‘get up’.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Ja, your explanation sounds interesting. I know few German, and I think it 's a so good think “steht auf” and “stand up”.
But when German people want to say " aufstehen" in English, whether they use “stand up”?
