Voc/ Glenda Jackson as Queen Elizabeth I.

Hi all of you,

I watched the BBC series ‘Elizabeth R’ and there’s a scene in which Glenda Jackson, starring as Elizabeth I (1533-1603), says: ’ When I rode out to my coronation, the people from the crowd cried out that they remembered King Harry VIII. It lifted it my heart.’

Now ‘it lifted my heart’ does that mean that she was so emotionally taken aback, when the people from the crowd cried out that sentence, that she could almost cry of joy? And does it also mean that she was very proud to be the daughter of Henry VIII?

Thanks
Alexandro

It lifted my heart. It made me feel happy / gave me a feeling of joy and gladness.
