Verbs both transitive and intransitive: spoil, etc

Hi

Could you please list down a few verbs which are both transitive and intransitive?

1- Spoil
2- Cook
3- Develp

I always thought that we spoil things and that they do not spoil, but recently got to know that I was wrong. Spoil is also intransitive. Are there some other verbs like that you know? Please jot down a few for me…

Tom

The verb ‘spoil’ in your example: [i]they /i do not spoil is intransitive, since it doesn’t take a direct object.

Here are a few more verbs that can be both transitive and intransitive:

do
dress
eat
play
run
sing
sleep
speak
wash

You’ll find many, many more in the dictionary.
