Vacation

Good evening Teacher Kitos,
Thank you very much for checking my essay.

Some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year. Other believe that students should have several short vacations through the year. Which viewpoint do you agree with ?

Almost all students would love to have a long vacation throughout the year to get away from study to enjoy themselves. However, as a student, I think several short vacations are what work better for us because of some following reasons.

Firstly, short breaks are effective ways of relaxing. Evidently,we need some time off working to recharge our batteries after a strenuous period of studying. Short breaks balance the time between studying and entertaining. They enable us to have enough time to refresh, and afterwards begin new semesters more effectively. A long vacation allows us too much time to enjoy, but by the meantime, we have to study endlessly before. What is worse, we have a tendency of being lazier and unwilling to study, because we have been used to having much leisure time when experiencing such a long vacation.

More importantly, having several short vacations, we have no fear of forgetting what we learned before. With long vacation, we tend to take part in many activities, which take up most of our time, such as go sightseeing, visit relatives or do some courses lasting several weeks, etc. Thus, we hardly cast a look at textbooks, and forgetting previous lessons is unavoidable. Whereas, in short vacations, we only have chances of short-term activities like playing sports, shopping or going out, and at least we have time for study. Having more time leads to the thinking of putting off learning until the days after. Eventually, maybe we have not prepared anything yet. Moreover, getting back school early pushes us to brush up on lessons to get ready for new terms. Then, coming back to school,we do not have to waste so much time reviewing old knowledge.

All in all, short breaks are beneficial in both study and relaxation. Therefore, I believe that we had better get a few short vacations rather than long ones for the sake of our own.
