Use of 'went off' (I already went off when she came in my house)

I already went off when she came in my house. So she didn’t get to see me yesterday.

Do you think this sentence is correct at least as to grammar? Particularly, the use of “went off” in this sentence.

Advance thanks to you.

Grammatically correct, and as I know, go off means the light is off.

The light went off when the thief came in.

Hi,

Your sentence:

sounds a bit strange to me. The form ‘go off’ has a few meanings but I don’t think it works here. I would say:I had already left/gone away when she came to my house.

Alan

: I mean grammatically correct only, the meaning of it is pretty difficult to follow as what Alan said.
