Use of "better off"

I think it is better off taking flight instead of bus.

Do you think this sentence is correct? [Particularly, the use of “better off” in this sentence]

Hi,

I would change this sentence to either:

I think you are better off flying rather than going by bus.

or

I think it is better to fly than to go by bus.

Alan

Thank you Alan.

Do you think this version is right?

Hi,

The only problem is that ‘take flight’ means run away. You would have to say: It is better to take a flight instead of a bus trip/journey.
