Usage of "take Place"

is it for event that is made by human or any occassions such as raining or other natural disasters too…

for instance: tha rain took place yesterday. or the birthday party will take place at Bruce’s house. which one is the correct one? or both are correct instead?

i hope my question is understandable…

thanks,

N

.
Take place to me sounds natural only for planned events, though no doubt you will find instances of other uses.
.

so is it like the phrase “happening” or “held” (for an event)?

.
I would say so, yes.
.

ok… thanks a bunch…
