Usage of "both"

Please, how would be the correct usage of “both” in this case? Is there a general rule?

  1. “The experience acquired both through theme and canvas painting”
  2. "The experience acquired through both theme and canvas painting "

Thank you in advance

Hi Juliana Melo,

Where you position ‘both’ depends on the emphasis you wish to make. Greater empahsis is indicated by putting ‘both’ as here:

‘The experience acquired through both theme and canvas painting’.
