Hi everyone!
I have to translate my university diploma, i.e. “Diploma de licență” in Romanian, for which a rough word-by-word translation would be that of “Licence Diploma” in English. The problem is that on this diploma my major and minor are stated together and connected by a hyphen, e.g. “specialized in: MyMajor-MyMinor”. I would really like to know how is this stated on an American or British University Diploma. I have to mention that I have not graduated in Medicine, because I saw that the term “license” is usually attached to diplomas related to medicine or even teaching. Whether you graduated in Philology, Economics, Electronics or Medicine, the title given in Romania to one’s university diploma is that of “Diploma de licență”.
I’ve searched the Internet but to no avail. Maybe this is just the way diplomas are drafted in Romania, but maybe not, that is why I’m asking for the help of those that know better, and maybe even can provide a scanned copy of one. Should I say: “majored in…” and “minored in…”? Probably not, but this is beyond me.
Please, help! Thanks in advance.
