Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: To improve the quality of education, universities should spend more money on salaries for university professors.
Education system and university play an important role in each society. The question of whether the salary of university’s professor should be increased to enhance the quality of the education or not is very sounds controversial. Personally, though, I believe that it is better to raise the salary’s professors of university. I feel this way for two reasons.
To begin with, a stark high salary motivates the professors to teach and investigate in a deep and meaningful fashion. When they do not possess any serious financial problem, they accomplish their responsibility very well. On the other hand, if a professor has economic difficulty, he will not concentrate on his taught or activities. My own experience as a professor demonstrates convincing evidence of this. When I was a faculty member at the Sh University, the salary that was received by me in computer engineering department was hopelessly low. As a result, I could not pay the rent of my home. I strongly strove to acquire a second job along with teaching to approach my essential facilities. As a result of paying low salary by the university, the quality of my teaching decrease.
Apart from the points made above, no one can overlook the fact that a university paying a tremendous amount of salary to its professors absorbs much more individuals. When a person wants to be hired in a university as a professor, he considers several distinct parameters that one of these parameters is the salary. I have personally experience the fact during my time as a professor. For instance, when I graduated and received my PhD degree from the top university in United State, I looked for a university for hiring. Finally, I selected a low rank university that was contained a large amount of salary. This example provides another reason why the salary affect not only the quality of teaching, but also the attracting the suitable professors for hiring.
To put it in a nutshell, I am of the opinion that If a university pay a large amount of money as salary’s professors, it will advance in many distinct aspects. This is because the professors encourage to accomplish their duty much better, and because it attracts a lot of faculty members. For these reasons, the university had better possess a committee to investigate the economic difficulty of its professors.
