There has been a lot of talk about UBI (universal basic income) every since COVID-19 started and a few countries such as Spain have taken steps towards UBI.
In Germany we have something that is as close as it can get to UBI and I’m sure the system will evolve over the next couple years to eventually lead to a real UBI. If you like I can share with you the details on how UBI in Germany works. We call it ‘Grundsicherung’ also known as Hartz IV and there are quite a number of details even Germans benefiting from Hartz IV don’t know yet.
