Two questions to be answered

Hello, everybody!

  1. In the greeting, can the comma be removed?
  2. Should there be an exclamation mark?

Thanks.

Oh, I thought you were just saying hello to us.

  1. I don’t think anyone will misinterpret this sentence regardless of whether there is a comma or not.

  2. It depends on how excited you are to be contacting everybody. Is this the first contact after everybody comes back from several months of vacation or is it a routine daily communication? If it’s just routine, you might just say:
    “Hello everybody,”.

  1. The comma is essential because you are addressing everybody (the audience).
  2. Yes, an exclamation mark may be used because you want to arrest the attention of everybody.
